The Whisky Wire Wemyss Malts Tweet Tasting

Last night we continued our mission of spreading the word of the dram and bringing whisky into the homes of the people, with yet more dramfotainment in the form of one of our Twitter trending Tweet Tastings.

This time round we explored a gaggle of glorious whisky wares from those fine folk at Wemyss Malts. From single cask single malts to blended malt and blended scotch, we were well and truly treated to a quaffable quad of dramming delights.
In the good company of our Tweet Tasters and Karen Stewart from Wemyss, which by the way is pronounced “Weems” we worked our way through their  ‘The Hive 12 Year Old’ blended malt, ‘Lord Elcho 15 Year Old’ blended scotch, and two of their single cask single malts ‘White Chocolate Torte’ and ‘Beach Bonfires’.
Here are a few of the tweeted tasted highlights from last night:

The Hive 12 Year Old

@champdenwhite Fabulously smooth and honied on the palate, then a kick of spice with edges of vanilla and even a touch of caramel.
@KirstyChant Now getting salted caramel/toffee on the palate and that pepper is kicking in but it's not too much. Quite fruity on the finish.
@MaltBox Lovely introduction, deep velvety sweetness, those digestives are back again too with slight hint of walnut.

Lord Elcho 15 Year Old

@LRWhisky We're getting chocolate fudge and raisins, followed by a little liquorice and vanilla.
@julie_gwc Elcho is like stollen cake - marzipan and dried fruits - yum! Bit of caramel cake too.
@WhiskyDiscovery Rich and creamy mouth feel, luxurious. sweet grains, toffee fudge, spicy pepper which quickly fades leaving a dark chocolate note.

White Chocolate Torte
(1988 Tormore)

@TIA568B Wow... Just wow, spot on with the name, I was a bit cynical, but yeah, white chocolate, Milkybar, lovely!
@rickfurzer Peaches on a white chocolate cheesecake, with a dark chocolate biscuit base.
@the_josephellis A luxurious bittersweet mouth coating dram. Spicy oranges hit the back of my mouth but the front is all creamy and sweet!

Beach Bonfires
(1998 Laphroaig)

@KirstyChant Salty, coal/tar, seaweed, seaside, mineral/wet rocks and a sweetness. Smells lovely!
@dvdbloke I'm getting that bacon fat roasting on a beach thing going on!
@DramStats TCP, Sticking plasters, Very coastal and salty. Lobster traps, Crabs (the crustaceans), sweet BBQ sauce, fennel, seaweed rocks.
