The Whisky Wire Midleton Tweet Tasting

This week we continued our hugely successful string of Twitter trending Tweet Tastings, by exploring a bountiful bevy of Irish whiskey wares from those masters of the Single Pot Still at the Midleton Distillery.
In the good company of our international gathered ensemble of tasters, on Wednesday night we had the pleasure of sampling their: Redbreast 12 Year Old, Green Spot, Powers John’s Lane and Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy expressions.
All of which made for an evening of dramspanking dramfotainment that managed to trend 5th on Twitter in the UK via #SPSWhiskeyTT
Here are a few of the tweeted tasted highlights from the night:

Redbreast 12 Year Old

@mynameisgone The nose is really inviting, no burn, getting more spice through and lots of vanilla.
@whiskytube  A really buttery sherry trifle with lashings of spicy honey and sultanas.
@bumpythechemist Palate starts of clean with some pear drops, then goes bitter sweet followed by big spice.
@EdinburghWhisky Grapefruit, purple fruit pastels, plums, a juicy and a treacley oily feel . Making me very happy.

Green Spot

@fr1day Apple crumble fresh out the oven, liberally sprinkled with fudge crumbs and mixed herbs.
@themisswhisky Damn I forgot how good Green Spot is. Seriously could drink this for breakfast.
@steveprentice The palate continues to intrigue with notes of apples & bananas with a few lightly spiced oaky notes.
@PresleyKa I think Green Spot would go well with some vintage cheddar or something salty.

Powers John's Lane

@TheWhiskyBoys A big box of Thorntons truffles, a very small espresso, wet newspaper print and damp firewood.
@rodbodtoo Fresh fruit & cream, then a layer of baked fruit on sweet pastry.
@whiskytube Imagine you've just poured a shot of Cointreau into a Belgian hot chocolate!
@DramStats Herbal notes, vanilla, with lots of spice (pepper and oak) foam bananas and banana Nesquik.

Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy

@EdinburghWhisky Mango, pear, pineapple. Mr Crockett got all the fruits of the forest into this wee bottle.
@fr1day Hold this one in your mouth for a while! Initial sweet melon rush, then peppers/limes/cinnamon surges.
@themisswhisky Wow! love when I retry something I loved the 1st & 2nd time & realise I love it just as much the 3rd.
@alicha82 I can imagine this going with figs and aged Parmesan cheese.
