Quick Fire Whisky Tasting Notes #25

Redbreast 21 Year Old

Nose: Sherry soaked sultanas, stewed prunes, grilled pineapple, ripe bananas, toffee apples, pink marshmallows, Ashbury strawberry cream chocolates, sugared almonds, mixed spice, orange oil, sweet oak and a binding and balancing wave-ette of wood varnish.

Palate: Vanilla danish pastries, pineapple upside down cake, hot buttered granary toast, Bonne Maman damson plum conserve, a can of Lilt, bramley apples, honeydew melon, gooseberries, caramelized bananas, Cadbury chocolate eclairs, sugared almonds, wood spice, cloves and a forest pine-esque freshness.

Finish: A full on fruit fest of a long, lush, lingering finish.

Summary: Well I know what I want to be drinking this Christmas. Back in 2011 Redbreast’s release of their 12 Year Old Cask Strength was undoubtedly my whisky of the year, and thanks to this dramspanking dramming ditty they’re most definitely contenders for 2013!
