Quick Fire Whisky Tasting Notes #26

Compass Box Delilah's

Nose: Twinings lemon green tea, vanilla infused honey, braeburn apples, bananas, pink grapefruit zest, spelt bread dough, oatmeal ice cream, dried chilli flakes, ground pimento, fresh oak, calamine lotion and a handful of pineapple cubes from a pick ‘n’ mix.

Palate: Homemade apple flapjacks, warm squares of baklava, Belazu preserved lemons, honeyed poached pears, a sarsaparilla ice cream float, cinnamon sticks, cayenne pepper, freshly chopped ginger and a dry, sweet vinous vivaciousness.

Finish: A fabulous, full on feisty, long, lush lingerer of a finish.

Summary: Yet another belting blend from those Willy Wonka’s of whisky at Compass Box. Released to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the legendary punk whisky bar Delilah’s in Chicago, and not (just to clear up any confusion) the 45th anniversary of a certain song from a certain Sir Tom from the valleys. Oh what the heck sing along everybody! “I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window…”.
