Nose: A medicinal medley of Benylin cough syrup, Tunes
cherry lozenges and aniseed twists. Followed by clove studded orange, lemon
zest, cayenne infused honey, Cadbury fudge, sugared almonds, ground allspice, sweet oak and some righteous rye spice.
Palate: Caramelised fennel fronds, rye spice and malt loaf
smeared with butter and lime marmalade lead the palatable pleasure charge. Followed by notes of orange peel, maraschino cherries, walnuts,
charred oak, ground black pepper, mixed spice and a mug of stewed black tea.
Finish: A feisty, full-on finish, that continues to be
driven by those sweet, spiced and anise-based notes.
Summary: A right rollickingly rounded and rewarding drop of liquid Americana, that makes for a superb slow solo sipper. If you like to mix it up on the cocktail front, it also makes for a marvellous Manhattan and an outstanding Old Fashioned.
