Single Grain Scotch Whisky

Nose: A feisty full-on fruit fest of red delicious apples, vanilla
infused poached pears, maraschino cherries and orange peel. Followed by Müller
Corner blueberry yogurt, tea steeped prunes, Jamaican spiced bun, Quality Street
toffee pennies, aniseed twists, Edinburgh rock, white pepper, sweet oak and righteous
amounts of rye spice.
Palate: A punch of pimento and garish amounts of ginger lead
the palatable charge, along with sea salted crackers, digestive biscuits and a cinnamon
heavy apple pie. Those maraschino cherries and aniseed twists make another appearance,
and are very quickly joined by dulce de leche, toasted oak, caramelised fennel
fronds, After Eight mint chocolates and more of that ravishing rye spice.
Finish: A sweet, rye-spiced and all things nice, medium (but
in no way short changed) kind of a finish.
Summary: Having been blown away by a visit to their then newly opened distillery in 2016, I was genuinely thrilled to be able to finally sample their inaugural release. It certainly doesn’t disappoint - with all of its right rollicking rye roundness, and it makes for an excellent tease for what is to come release wise over the coming years.
