Decant Group, has today announced the official launch of Rey Del Istmo, a new premium, single estate Panamanian rum, that has been harvested, distilled, and aged at Varela Hermanos – the oldest rum distillery in Panama, which was founded in 1908 by Don José Varela Blanco.
The inaugural Rey Del Istmo 10 Year Old release (42% ABV) which was crafted using locally sourced sugar cane, distilled on a column still and matured in the finest American oak barrels, is said to be a celebration of tradition, patience, dedication, and the art of crafting spirits that transcends time.
Rey Del Istmo, which translates from the Spanish for the King of the Isthmus, is said to deliver a velvety texture and captivating aromas of vanilla, spice, butterscotch and oak.
Commenting on the launch, Alistair Moncrieff, Founder of Decant Group, said: “Following the continued success of our LIMITED Whisky brand, we are very excited to be launching the first rum release from Rey Del Istmo. Produced at the oldest and most renowned rum distillery in Panama; Varela Hermanos – which is also one of the few distilleries to still produce its molasses from estate grown sugar cane, every bottle of Rey Del Istmo comes steeped in over 100 years of heritage and tradition.”
This latest news follows on from last month’s launch of House of Decant, a new online drinks marketplace from Decant Group, which will support independent spirits and wine producers and offer its members access to exclusive spirits. House of Decant also aims to reimagine the convenience of a traditional drinks delivery service into a premium digital concierge, by offering same-day delivery and other services via WhatsApp.
Rey Del Istmo 10 Year Old, is now available from House of Decant and Amazon for a RRP of £39.99. Further Rey Del Istmo bottlings will be released in the future, with full details being announced prior to their launch.
