Blair Athol Distillery has today announced the launch of a new limited-edition expression.
Blair Athol 20 Year Old (52.8% ABV) is a single malt Scotch whisky, which was initially matured in refill casks, before being finished in a combination of classic rejuvenated casks, wine-seasoned American oak casks, wine-seasoned European oak casks and refill casks.
This latest release, which celebrates cask innovation at the Diageo-owned Highland based distillery, is said to deliver notes of green grapes, ripe papaya, mango, milk chocolate, sweet fondant, and sandalwood, along with hints of Christmas pudding and sticky ginger cake.
Commenting on the launch, Stuart Morrison, Master Blender at Bair Athol, said: “This exceptional bottling is extra special because it reflects the essence of Blair Athol – a commitment to preserving traditions while innovating for the future. Some of the team that filled the spirit into the experimental casks have since retired yet we’re fortunate to uncover the whisky they laid down, creating something new while honouring the legacy and craftsmanship that define Blair Athol. A truly remarkable expression that blends Blair Athol’s signature nutty spice with layers of fruit, vanilla, and aromatic wood – this is more than just a whisky, it’s a testament to the future we’re creating.”
Blair Athol 20 Year Old, will initially be available directly from the distillery next month, before being available from malts.com in May, for a RRP of £400.00.
