The Glasgow Distillery, which revived single malt whisky distilling in Glasgow, is celebrating 10 years of whisky making with the release of its oldest expression to date.
Glasgow 1770 10 Year Old (54% ABV) is a single cask, single malt Scotch whisky, produced using the 10th cask the distillery ever laid down to mature —a refill Bourbon barrel.
This latest release will be available exclusively to members of the Glasgow Distillery Community, the distillery’s free members club.
Glasgow 1770 10 Year Old, is said to deliver notes of crisp green apples, fresh pears, fresh lychee, ripe pineapple, citrus marmalade, icing sugar and rich vanilla sponge cake on the nose. Followed by notes of vanilla custard, orange peel, lemon zest, baked apple, floral heather honey, freshly sliced pear and baked caramelised pear tarte tatin.
The Glasgow Distillery Company was established in 2012, with the unwavering mission to bring single malt distilling back to the city. The company produces an award-winning portfolio of brands, each inspired by the city’s rich past, including: Glasgow 1770 Single Malt, Malt Riot Blended Malt, Makar Gin, Banditti Club Rum and G52 Botanical Vodka.
Commenting on the launch, Mike Hayward, co-founder of The Glasgow Distillery, said: “We’re incredibly proud to present this milestone bottling as we mark a decade of whisky making. With notes of pear tart tatin, heather honey, green apples, lemon zest, melon, pineapple, and a dusting of cinnamon, this fruit-forward dram is perfect for spring. Releasing our oldest expression exclusively to The Glasgow Distillery Community recognises all the support and encouragement we have received from our supporters who have followed us throughout our journey to date.”
Limited to 230 bottles, Glasgow 1770 10 Year Old will be available exclusively to Glasgow Distillery Community members, from The Glasgow Distillery website at 10am on Tuesday April 15th, for a RRP of £69.00.
