The Loch Lomond Group has announced that it has acquired the Brooklyn, New York-based New York Distilling Company.
The purchase will further enhance and diversify the company’s portfolio of premium spirits, which includes the Loch Lomond and Glen Scotia single malt Scotch whisky brands.
The acquisition, which marks Loch Lomond Group’s first foray into the world of American whiskey, will see investment in distillation, production capabilities and a New York visitor experience.
The New York Distilling Company produces a range of American whiskey brands across multiple categories, with its signature Jaywalk Rye Whiskey as the centre piece of its portfolio.
Jaywalk Rye includes a number of expressions, all of which feature the coveted Horton Heirloom Rye, brought to the New World from Europe in the 17th century.
Inspired by the spirit and attitude of Brooklyn and New York, the distillery’s brands are bold, self-confident and unapologetically single-minded. Rooted in tradition yet driven by purpose, the brand embodies a confident ethos that challenges conventional norms.
Commenting on the news, Colin Matthews, Founder and CEO of Loch Lomond Group, said: “This acquisition represents another milestone in the continued growth of the Loch Lomond Group. We look forward to working closely with the talented and ambitious team at NYDC to invest in both the facilities and the products, while supercharging its growth—both domestically in the US and globally—through the existing Loch Lomond Group distribution network. We are also excited to lend our expertise in the continued creation of exceptional flavours.”
This latest news follows a recent announcement from the Loch Lomond Group regarding their plans to build a new distillery and visitor centre in Luss, Dumbartonshire, Scotland.
