The County Antrim based Bushmills Distillery has announced the launch of a new addition to its core range: Bushmills 12 Year Old (40% ABV), a triple-distilled Irish single malt whiskey.

Matured in a combination of Oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels, the whiskey is then finished in Marsala wine barriques. This triple cask maturation, extended ageing, and use of Marsala barriques are said to bring an elevated depth of flavour – layering ripe spiced fruit, caramelised brown sugar, and a subtle nutty dryness over Bushmills’ signature smooth character.

Bushmills 12 Year Old, which will replace the 10 Year Old as the brand’s introductory single malt in the UK, follows strong international demand. The expression has already seen impressive growth across the USA and Asia.

Commenting on the launch, Alex Thomas, Master Blender at Bushmills, said: “Bushmills 12 Year Old is already experiencing dynamic growth across the USA and Asia… and we’re proud to now bring this expression to GB. It’s more than just a replacement for our 10 Year Old – with two extra years of maturation, a triple-cask approach, and a rare Marsala wine finish, it delivers deeper layers of flavour while staying true to the beautifully balanced, triple-distilled style Bushmills is known for. That unique Marsala influence brings a special hint of Sicilian sunshine – a rich new dimension to our portfolio.”

Bushmills 12 Year Old Single Malt is now available in supermarkets and from specialist retailers across the UK, for a RRP of £42.00.
