Penderyn Distillery has announced the launch of its thirteenth Icons of Wales release – a special collaboration with leading production company, Bad Wolf.

Penderyn Bad Wolf, Icons of Wales #13 (46% ABV) is a 10 Year Old single malt Welsh whisky, fully matured in Tawny Port pipes that previously held port wine for around 60 years.

The whisky was personally selected from Penderyn’s warehouse by Bad Wolf Chief Executive Officer, Jane Tranter, and her team. The bottle presentation was designed by long-standing Penderyn collaborator Lauren Tutssel, and features the first-ever depiction of the iconic Bad Wolf in a howling pose.

Described as a celebration of contemporary arts in Wales, this latest release offers a complex and elegant profile. On the nose, it reveals notes of orange blossom, rose petals, fruitcake, ripe strawberries, and tangy raspberries. The palate follows with stewed dark fruits, toffee, marzipan, bittersweet marmalade, gentle oak, and a subtle spice.

Founded in 2015, Bad Wolf was established to produce ambitious, imaginative, and globally relevant drama for the international TV market. From their headquarters in South Wales, the company has earned a reputation as one of the UK’s leading independent production companies, delivering 117 hours (as of April 2025) of premium drama for major broadcasters and networks including HBO, BBC, AMC and Sky.

This latest edition joins the distinguished Icons of Wales series (#1–#12), which has celebrated iconic individuals, key milestones, and significant Welsh events — including highly collectible, sold-out releases such as Bryn Terfel, Dylan Thomas, and Rhiannon.

Commenting on the launch, Penderyn CEO Stephen Davies said: “This is one of the most exciting bottlings we have ever released. Bad Wolf has brought immense creativity to Wales and to the capital city of Cardiff. Through the medium of contemporary arts, they’ve been telling incredible stories for the past 10 years. It feels fitting to dedicate a 10-year-old single malt to mark the company’s 10th anniversary — and to raise a toast to many more years of success.”

Penderyn Bad Wolf, Icons of Wales #13 is now available to order directly from the Penderyn website, for a RRP of £65.00.
