Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whisky – which has remained true to its pioneering spirit for over a century – has announced the launch of a new 17 Year Old expression.
Bottled at 42.3% ABV, Cutty Sark 17 Year Old has been crafted using hand-selected malt whiskies matured in a combination of Sherry and Port casks, along with grain whisky aged in Bourbon casks.
Developed from a bold and distinctive cask recipe, this new release is said to add layers of fruity complexity to the blend’s signature smooth style. Aromas of candied orange, cherries, and plums intertwine with notes of oak, cappuccino undertones, and a subtle touch of spice.
Named after the legendary tea clipper, Cutty Sark was first launched in 1923 at the height of Prohibition – and has been defying convention ever since.
Commenting on the release, Master Blender Stephen Woodcock said: “Cutty Sark has always been a whisky for those with a sense of adventure – and Cutty Sark 17 is a sumptuous voyage into deeper flavour. To craft this rich blend, we began by selecting fine, aged Highland and Speyside single malts, marrying them for 17 months in hand-picked Sherry and Port casks. These malts were then combined with Lowland grain whisky matured in first-fill Bourbon casks, delivering exceptional creaminess. Bold, fruity and spicy, our 17 is an ocean of complexity waiting to be explored.”
Cutty Sark 17 Year Old will be available from specialist retailers later this month, for a RRP of £85.00 – £90.00.
