Saltire Rare Malt has announced the launch of a limited-edition Christmas single malt that captures the warmth, tradition and nostalgia of the festive season in a glass.

Saltire Rare Malt Tamnavulin 17 Year Old Christmas Edition (48.8% ABV) is a single cask, single malt whisky, matured in a second-fill European oak hogshead.

This latest release from the Fife-based independent bottler — distilled on 8 February 2008 and bottled on 10 February 2025 — is said to deliver notes of dried fruits, raisins, soft oak and gentle spice.

Founded in 2024 by lifelong friends Nigel Heywood and Keith Rennie, Saltire Rare Malt is dedicated to exceptional single casks — from iconic distilleries to hidden gems and lost whisky landmarks. As with every bottling, this release — their 19th — has been selected with the guidance of internationally respected whisky curators Hans and Becky Offringa, The Whisky Couple.

Commenting on the launch, Keith Rennie, Saltire Rare Malt Founder & Director, said: “This release is our love letter to winter. It’s elegant, nostalgic, and made for those quiet golden moments when the world slows down. If Christmas had a flavour, this would be it — rich fruit, warm spice, and old-world charm in a glass. We’re very proud of this whisky and confident Saltire fans will enjoy every drop of this special release.”

Limited to just 247 bottles, the Saltire Rare Malt Tamnavulin 17 Year Old Christmas Edition is now available from the company’s website and select specialist retailers for a RRP of £100.00.
