The Glasgow Distillery has announced the launch of a new core range expression as part of its award-winning Glasgow 1770 range.

Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Bourbon Cask Matured (54% ABV) is a peated (50PPM) cask-strength, single malt Scotch whisky, matured exclusively in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels for a minimum of eight years.

Following the release of Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish earlier this year, the new Bourbon Cask Matured expression is said to embody the perfect balance of two of the distillery’s signature whisky styles, comprising 50% unpeated double-distilled and 50% peated double-distilled single malt.

This latest release highlights the fruity, tropical heart at the core of Glasgow Distillery’s double-distilled spirit, complemented by a subtle thread of sweet smoke contributed by the peated single malt component.

Commenting on the launch, Mike Hayward, Founder of The Glasgow Distillery, said: “Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish and Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured embody our experimental spirit and expertise in cask management, bridging our much-loved Signature Range of peated, unpeated and triple-distilled expressions with our innovative Small Batch Series. These new annual bottlings showcase our favourite combination of whisky production styles and cask maturations.”

Mike continued by saying: “By focusing solely on bourbon cask maturation, this release offers a pure expression of spirit-led character, celebrating the essence of The Glasgow Distillery’s craftsmanship without an overly dominant cask influence. Expect rich vanilla and floral honey, a gentle lick of sweet smoke, vibrant citrus fruit, buttery shortbread and tropical undertones, leading to a long, warming finish.”

The inaugural batch of Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Bourbon Cask Matured, limited to just 1,400 bottles, is now available from the distillery’s website for a RRP of £57.00.
