The Islay-based Kilchoman Distillery has announced the launch of the 2025 edition of its Machir Bay Cask Strength whisky – three years after the previous release in the series.

Kilchoman Machir Bay Cask Strength 2025 Edition (58.1% ABV) is a heavily peated, cask strength, single malt Scotch whisky matured in ex-Bourbon casks.

This release, the first since the evolution of the Machir Bay vatting, is described by the distillery as being a peat lover’s dram through and through. Richer than the core expression, the nose is bold and smoky, with notes of sweet vanilla, caramel, citrus, tropical fruit and mineral complexity. On the palate, it is full-bodied and warming, with creamy malt sweetness balancing maritime peat smoke, fresh and candied citrus, toffee and gentle spice.

Commenting on the launch, Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder, said: “It’s one of my favourite whiskies we’ve released – it has everything I love about Kilchoman spirit, with a little extra punch. There will be a lot of happy Kilchoman fans seeing the Machir Bay Cask Strength back on shelves.”

In addition to the launch, and in the run-up to a historic milestone – the 20th anniversary of filling their first cask on 14 December 2005 – Kilchoman has announced a prize draw offering whisky lovers the once-in-a-lifetime chance to win the very first bottle of their 20 Year Old single malt whisky. Full details are available on their website.

Kilchoman Machir Bay Cask Strength 2025 Edition is now available from the distillery’s website and select specialist retailers, for a RRP of £64.90.
