The Kentucky-based Michter’s Distillery has announced the limited release of its 20 Year Old Bourbon.

Michter’s 20 Year Old – 2025 Release (57.1% ABV) is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon, matured in charred, new American white oak barrels.

Michter’s regularly samples its barrels to monitor how the whiskey is ageing, paying particularly close attention once they reach 17 years old. The distillery considers 17 to 20 years the “Fork in the Road Point”, when certain barrels can achieve an extraordinary level of quality. It is these exceptional barrels that Master Distiller Dan McKee personally selects for the highly limited bottling of Michter’s 20 Year Old.

Barrel management and precisely controlled warehouse conditions are critical to the quality of aged whiskey. Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson, who oversees both of these key areas for Michter’s, commented on the release: “Details matter when it comes to ageing bourbon gracefully. Michter’s 20 Year Old Bourbon is an exemplary representation of how oak can be used to deepen vanilla, toffee, chocolate, spice, fruit and confectionery notes that enhance complexity in bourbon. We hope that everyone who gets the opportunity to taste this product experiences the beloved attributes of a beautiful, timeless bourbon crafted through intentional ageing.”

This release comes three months after Michter’s was named The World’s Most Admired Whiskey for an unprecedented third time. In August, Drinks International published the 2025 list of the World’s Most Admired Whiskies. The rankings are determined by an international academy of 100 independent global drinks buyers, journalists, bartenders and whisky experts.

Michter’s 20 Year Old – 2025 Release will be available in limited quantities from December through selected retailers in the United States, for a RRP of $1,200.
