The Highlands-based Glengoyne Distillery has announced the launch of its latest limited-edition Teapot Dram release.
Glengoyne Teapot Dram Batch No. 011 (59.7% ABV) is a single malt Scotch whisky matured exclusively in first-fill Sherry casks.
The Teapot Dram series pays tribute to a long-standing Glengoyne tradition. Until the 1970s, distillery workers were given three fingers of whisky three times a day. While most distilleries offered new-make spirit, Glengoyne set itself apart by providing fully matured whisky.
Some of the younger workers chose not to drink their full allocation during the working day and instead poured their share into a copper teapot. Over time, the vessel filled with a blend of Sherry-matured whiskies, sitting in full view on the canteen windowsill for older, more seasoned colleagues to enjoy during what became known as “the dramming days”.
This latest release from the Highland distillery, overseen by Distillery Manager Robbie Hughes, is said to offer aromas of dates, dark chocolate, lemon meringue, grilled peach, toasted nuts, dry Sherry and a hint of incense. The palate delivers flavours of cherries, strawberry ice cream, blackberry jam, gingerbread, fudge, hazelnut spread and dried apricot.
Limited to 3,000 bottles, Glengoyne Teapot Dram Batch No. 011 is now available exclusively from the distillery shop and website for a RRP of £125.00.
