Cù Bòcan, the lightly peated, experimental single malt brand produced at the Tomatin Distillery each winter, has announced the launch of its seventh Creation series release.
Cù Bòcan Creation #7 (46% ABV) is a single malt Scotch whisky, matured in a combination of American virgin oak and rare Pineau des Charentes Rouge wine casks.
Inspired by the lightly peated spirit historically produced at Tomatin over a century ago, Cù Bòcan employs unusual cask combinations to craft exceptional whiskies that push the boundaries of flavour and challenge conventional approaches to maturation.
This latest release, celebrating two decades of peated whisky production at Tomatin, is said to reveal aromas of rhubarb crumble with custard, ginger, cinnamon, almond croissants, apple, heather smoke and musk. On the palate, it offers notes of smoke, toasted brioche, butter shortbread, strawberry and raspberry.
Drawing on Tomatin’s extensive experience with fortified wine casks – including those used in the recent French Collection – Blender and Global Brand Ambassador Scott Adamson selected the Pineau des Charentes Rouge casks to introduce a new dimension to the Cù Bòcan range.
Commenting on the launch, Scott, said: “Creation #7 is Cù Bòcan’s most limited Creations release to date. It is more than a whisky; it is an invitation to explore. The Pineau des Charentes Rouge casks are rarely used in Scotch whisky maturation and influence the lightly peated spirit to unlock nostalgic and unexpected flavours.”
Limited to 3,000 bottles, Cù Bòcan Creation #7 is now available from the Tomatin Distillery online shop and specialist retailers, for a RRP of £45.00.
