House of Hazelwood has announced a partnership with the world-renowned Bertie’s Whisky Bar at The Fife Arms, to launch an exclusive range of rare and aged whisky flights.

Spanning more than four centuries of Scotch whisky history and offering nine exceptional expressions, this is the oldest selection ever served at Bertie’s and the most extensive offering of House of Hazelwood whiskies available in any bar or restaurant worldwide.

Available exclusively at Bertie’s Bar in The Fife Arms, Braemar — recently named on the Condé Nast Traveler Gold List 2025 — the experience enables guests to enjoy bespoke flights curated by Bertie’s expert team, each comprising three or four rare whiskies.

Each whisky in the collection is said to reveal a distinct chapter of Scotch heritage — some drawn from the last remaining casks of their kind, others representing styles no longer produced.

The collection is comprised of:

  • The Long Marriage – 56 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky
Limited to 288 bottles worldwide, this expression was drawn from a single cask laid down in the mid-1960s.
  • The Cask Trials – 53 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky
Limited to 303 bottles worldwide, matured in European oak casks and noted for its intense depth and distinctive grain character.
  • The Pursuit of Pleasure – 52 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky
Limited to 72 bottles worldwide, it was created in collaboration with Hedonism Wines and described as “decadence decanted.”
  • The Old Ways – 1972 Vintage Single Grain Scotch Whisky
Limited to 123 bottles worldwide, offering a rare glimpse into a lost distilling style — rich, aromatic and impossible to recreate.
  • The Garden at Hazelwood – 47 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Limited to 137 bottles worldwide, inspired by the tranquil gardens of Hazelwood House and noted for its fragrant, elegant, fruit-forward profile.
  • A Minute to Midnight – 45 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky
Limited to 154 bottles worldwide, a decadent, sherry-forward blend with exceptional richness and intensity.
  • The Lost Estate – 43 Year Old Blended Grain Scotch Whisky
Limited to 564 bottles worldwide, featuring spirits from two of Scotland’s much-missed grain distilleries, resulting in a creamy, luscious whisky with bright citrus and barley-sugar notes.
  • The Transatlantic – 33 Year Old Blended Grain Scotch Whisky
Limited to 291 bottles worldwide, described as a rare and delicious blended grain whisky that could, if tasted blind, be easily compared with the finest American Bourbon.

Each experience includes a guided tasting led by Bertie’s expert team, exploring the stories, characters and craftsmanship behind each bottle. The whiskies are presented on handcrafted wooden flights made by artisan Paul Hodgkiss, using timber sourced from the gardens of Hazelwood House — the Gordon family’s private home and the inspiration behind the brand. Each dram is served in award-winning Glencairn crystal glassware.

Commenting on the launch, Tom Addy, Senior Whisky Bartender at Bertie’s Whisky Bar, said: “Bertie’s was created as a sanctuary for whisky lovers. We pride ourselves on curating one of the rarest and most extensive whisky collections in the world, so it is a privilege to showcase such an exceptional range from House of Hazelwood. Nowhere else can guests explore over 400 years of Scotch whisky heritage drawn from a single collection. Each whisky is not only rare but irreplaceable — many taken from the final casks of their kind, others from distilling traditions long since lost. Presenting them together offers an intimate conversation with the past — a dream for whisky lovers, realised in the heart of the Highlands.”

Jonathan Gibson, Director of House of Hazelwood, added: “Each dram tells a story — decades of patient maturation, craftsmanship and legacy, bottled for a fleeting moment of enjoyment. Bertie’s Bar and The Fife Arms, recently named one of the world’s best hotels by Condé Nast, provide the perfect setting for this unprecedented celebration of whisky heritage. With their deep sense of place, rich cultural tapestry and world-class hospitality, there could be no finer home for our collection.”
