The Virginia Distillery Company, winner of Best American Single Malt at the 2026 World Whiskies Awards, has announced the launch of three new limited-edition releases: two additions to its Brewer’s Coalition series and the debut of VDC First Cut Cigar Blend.
The Brewer’s Coalition 4 Hands Madagascar Stout Cask Finish (50% ABV) has been created in collaboration with 4 Hands Brewing Co. in St. Louis, Missouri, with Virginia Distillery Company finishing its American single malt in Madagascar Stout barrels.
Just six barrels were sourced for this limited release. The whisky was matured for more than five years in ex-Bourbon casks prior to finishing. It is said to open with aromas of juicy raspberries and lemon curd biscuits, while the palate reveals layers of dark chocolate raspberry cake, roasted pecans and warm ginger snaps, culminating in a finish of dark cocoa and raspberry cola.
A Cask Strength Select edition of the 4 Hands collaboration will also be available in limited quantities at 4 Hands Brewing Co. in St. Louis.
The Brewer’s Coalition North Coast Old Rasputin Stout Cask Finish (50% ABV) was developed in collaboration with North Coast Brewing Co. in California, finishing Virginia Distillery Company’s American single malt in Old Rasputin Stout barrels.
Eight barrels were sourced for this release. Crafted from 100% malted barley, the whisky was matured in ex-Bourbon casks for over five years before finishing. It is said to offer aromas of almond kringle and honeycomb, followed by notes of bright citrus zest, dark chocolate and malty hops.
Cigar Blend American Single Malt – First Cut (54% ABV) has been crafted specifically to pair with a fine cigar. Made from 100% malted barley, it was matured for a minimum of seven years in a combination of Spanish oak, Sherry, Port, STR, Château Palmer Cabernet, Armagnac, Cognac and Fino casks, with a whisper of smoke imparted by Islay casks.
This expression is said to open with aromas of red berries and leather, developing into rich walnut and date cake, candied lemon peel, allspice and clove. The finish lingers with dark chocolate and subtle smoke.
These latest releases underscore the distillery’s commitment to collaboration, innovation and bold American single malt craftsmanship.
Commenting on the news, Gareth Moore, CEO of Virginia Distillery Company, said: “These releases represent the creativity and craftsmanship that define Virginia Distillery Co. Being named Best American Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards is an incredible honour, and we’re proud to continue pushing boundaries through collaboration and bold cask innovation.”
The Brewer’s Coalition 4 Hands Madagascar Stout Cask Finish is now available from selected retailers in the US. The Brewer’s Coalition North Coast Old Rasputin Stout Cask Finish and Cigar Blend American Single Malt – First Cut, will be available from March. RRPs (tbc).
