The Speyside-based Glen Moray Distillery has announced the launch of a new addition to its award-winning range of single malt whiskies.
Glen Moray Forbidden Fruit (40% ABV), the third whisky in the distillery’s Xperience Collection, has been finished in French oak casks that were previously used to mature Calvados – France’s historic and famously rich apple brandy.
This latest release continues Glen Moray’s journey of cask exploration and follows the acclaimed expressions Phoenix Rising and Twisted Vine – tributes to charred oak and Cognac cask maturation respectively.
For Forbidden Fruit, Glen Moray’s distillers took a single malt aged in bourbon casks and finished it in Calvados casks to explore how the apple brandy would marry with the whisky’s signature smooth Speyside style. The resulting dram is said to be brimming with notes of orchard fruits, sweet French pastries and fresh flowers, introducing an enticing new facet to the Elgin-based distillery’s much-loved, easy-drinking spirit.
Glen Moray Forbidden Fruit comes housed in bold packaging designed to bring the whisky’s story vividly to life. A radiant scarlet apple takes centre stage against Glen Moray’s classic dark blue backdrop, while the fabled forbidden fruit is artfully cradled by delicate golden leaves as a sinuous serpent winds its way through the design.
Commenting on the launch, Iain Allan, Glen Moray Global Brand Ambassador, said: “Cask exploration has been a huge part of the Glen Moray Distillery story for over a century, and Forbidden Fruit is a wonderful new testament to this heritage. It is a sweet, spicy and very moreish single malt which we’re sure will be a tempting treat for whisky fans to explore, whether they are connoisseurs or new to single malts.”
Glen Moray Forbidden Fruit is now available from selected retailers for a RRP of £32.00.
