Remus Bourbon has announced the launch of the second release in its Master Distiller Experimental Series — the first wheat whiskey ever released by the brand produced at the Lawrenceburg, Indiana-based Ross & Squibb Distillery.
Remus Master Distiller Experimental Series No. 2 (56.5% ABV) is a straight wheat whiskey distilled in 2017 and finished in a combination of Tawny Port, White Port, Oloroso Sherry and Ruby Port casks.
Building on the acclaim of Experimental Series No. 1 — including its gold medal win at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition — the second instalment continues the annual limited-edition programme.
Originally designed as an outlet for creative exploration, the series gives Master Distiller Ian Stirsman a blank canvas to push beyond traditional boundaries by experimenting with heirloom grains and unique barrel finishes. Each year, the result is a one-of-a-kind expression defined by unconventional flavour profiles, depth and innovation, created for adventurous whiskey connoisseurs and collectors.
Remus Master Distiller Experimental Series No. 2 is said to offer aromas of dark chocolate and almond praline, followed by a palate of chocolate, malty sweetness and subtle earthiness.
Commenting on the launch, Ian Stirsman, Master Distiller, said: “There is nothing more exciting to a Master Distiller than having the space to explore. With Series No. 2, I set out to create something entirely new for Remus by working with our LKSV 95% wheat whiskey mash bill for the first time. It continues our commitment to innovation while respecting the deep-rooted heritage of our distillery.”
Limited in quantity, Remus Master Distiller Experimental Series No. 2 will be available later this month from selected retailers in the US, for a RRP of $69.99.
