The Kentucky-based Heaven Hill Distillery has announced the launch of a new single barrel release from its Elijah Craig whiskey brand.

Elijah Craig Single Barrel 15 Year Old (54% ABV) is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, which bottling strength pays a subtle tribute to May 4th 1964 – the date the United States Congress officially recognised Bourbon as a distinct product of the United States.

This ruling reinforced the standards that continue to guide its production, including the requirement that it be aged in new charred oak barrels. That pioneering practice is attributed to Elijah Craig, earning him his enduring reputation as the “Father of Bourbon”.

Elijah Craig Single Barrel 15 Year Old is said to open with aromas of dark fruit, figs and rose, followed by notes of roasted nuts, toasted oak, caramelised sugar, crème brûlée, ginger and clove on the palate.

Commenting on the launch, Conor O’Driscoll, Master Distiller at Heaven Hill Distillery, said: “This release reflects the craftsmanship and tradition that have defined Elijah Craig for generations. We were seeking exceptional depth and character in our first 15-year-old single barrel bourbon, and it delivers at a proof that enhances its natural complexity. The result is a bold yet refined whiskey, approachable enough to be enjoyed throughout the evening.”

Elijah Craig Single Barrel 15 Year Old will be available later this month from selected retailers in the US, for a RRP of $149.99.
