The Glenkinchie Distillery has announced the launch of a new limited-edition 30 Year Old distillery exclusive release.

Glenkinchie 30 Year Old – A Richness of Swallows (58.4% ABV) is a cask-strength single malt Scotch whisky, matured in a combination of American and European oak refill casks for 28 years, before being married together in European oak puncheons.

A Swallow’s Journey, the story that inspired the limited-edition release, was written by distillery guide of 15 years, John Johnstone, in collaboration with the Glenkinchie Distillery team. It begins beneath the sun-scorched skies of the African continent, as a richness of swallows – the collective noun for birds travelling together – makes its way to the Lowland Scottish distillery. Their arrival marks the start of spring and brings fresh hope of brighter summer days ahead.

Glenkinchie 30 Year Old – A Richness of Swallows is described as full-bodied with a creamy-smooth texture, offering an almost perfumed character alongside a fruity dash of lemon-like acidity.

Commenting on the launch, John Johnstone, Glenkinchie Distillery Guide, said: “This is a personal tribute from all of us here at Glenkinchie, with a shared meaning that reflects both the journey of the swallows and that of our 30-year-old single malt. Limited to 1,002 bottles, Glenkinchie 30 Year Old – A Richness of Swallows will be available from March 27th, exclusively from the distillery shop, for a RRP of £595.00.
