The Perthshire-based Tullibardine Distillery has announced the launch of its latest Marquess Collection release.

The Murray 2013 Cask Strength (56.1% ABV) is a cask-strength, single malt Scotch whisky, distilled at the Highland based distillery in 2013 and matured in Bourbon barrels.

Launched in 2016, the Marquess Collection pays tribute to the historical figures who held the title of Marquess of Tullibardine in Scotland over the centuries, as well as to the rich heritage of the Tullibardine region.

The Murray edition honours the 2nd Marquess of Tullibardine, Sir William Murray, who fought for the Jacobites at the Battle of Sheriffmuir on the Ochil Hills above the distillery.

The Murray 2013 Cask Strength is described as offering aromas of vanilla pods, creamy custard, roasted barley malt and light biscuit notes on the nose, followed on the palate by buttery toffee, honeycomb, dark fruit undertones, toasted oak, nuts and a subtle woody spice.

Commenting on the launch, Mike Elliott, General Manager at Tullibardine Distillery, said: “Our cask-strength Murray editions have been popular since the range was launched, offering our customers the chance to experience the distillery’s character at full strength from first-fill bourbon barrels. It’s something we are frequently asked for, and we hope this expression will be well received by our loyal following.”

Limited to 9,800 bottles, the Murray 2013 Cask Strength is now available from the distillery and specialist retailers, for a RRP of £60.00.
