Stirling Distillery, Scotland’s smallest whisky distillery and winner of Best Scottish New Make Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards 2025, has announced that it will release its first single malt whisky in June 2027.
Located beneath Stirling Castle in the heart of the city, the distillery will produce just 320 bottles of its inaugural release—a direct reflection of its small-batch production and a milestone years in the making.
Members of Stirling Distillery’s King James Cask Club will receive first refusal on the debut release, with a waiting list now open to those outside the club.
The King James Cask Club is centred around the VI Casks for King James—a six-bottle collection drawn from six distinct cask finishes: Bourbon, Sherry, Port, Rum, Red wine and Madeira. The set is due to be released bi-annually from 2027 and is strictly limited in number. Just 300 memberships have been made available, with only nine now remaining.
In addition to the VI Casks collection, members receive first refusal on all Stirling Distillery whisky releases, priority access to future bottlings, invitations to exclusive distillery events and a direct connection to the whisky as it matures from cask to bottle.
Commenting on the announcement, Cameron McCann, Co-Founder of Stirling Distillery, said: “This is a moment we have been working towards since we founded the distillery in 2019. Single malt has always been at the heart of what June and I set out to do. With only 320 bottles in our first release, it will be genuinely rare, and we want those who have supported us from the beginning to be first in line.”
