Tomatin Distillery has announced the launch of a new expression available exclusively through grocery and convenience retailers.

The Tomatin 10 Year Old (40% ABV), matured in ex-Bourbon casks, is said by the brand to have been carefully curated to offer a taste of luxury at an affordable and accessible price point.

This latest release from the Highland distillery follows the success of Tomatin Double Cask, which launched earlier this year in Tesco and on Amazon, and is now being rolled out across export markets over the next 12 months.

The Tomatin 10 Year Old is said to deliver aromas of lemon sherbets sweets, green apples, buttery croissants, white chocolate and macadamia nuts, followed by flavours of lemon meringue pie, honey, toffee, apricot and peach on the palate.

Commenting on the launch, Scott Adamson, Blender and Global Brand Ambassador at Tomatin, said: “Our new 10-year-old single malt isn’t a traditional whisky, and that’s down to our cask choice. It’s impossible to hide a bad whisky in a bourbon barrel, and the art of maturation in these very special casks is something we’ve perfected over the years to create a quality, honest whisky.”

He continued: “Having spent much of the past decade experimenting with different cask types and appreciating the range of flavours that can be achieved through maturation, the Tomatin 10 Year Old is exquisite in its simplicity. As a distillery, we do bourbon maturation exceptionally well, and we’re proud to release this outstanding whisky.”

Tomatin 10 Year Old is now available from Waitrose and Amazon, for a RRP of £42.00.
