Auchentoshan has announced the launch of a new permanent expression in its range of triple-distilled Lowland single malts.
Auchentoshan Sherry Cask Finish (40% ABV) is a non-age-stated single malt Scotch whisky, initially matured in ex-Bourbon barrels before being finished in Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks.
This latest release, launched in response to rising demand for affordable, high-quality whiskies in Europe and Asia, is said to deliver notes of maraschino cherries, treacle cake, aniseed, cinnamon spice and floral aromas on the nose, followed by dark stone fruits, rich caramel and aniseed on the palate.
Commenting on the launch, Dr Calum Fraser, Master Blender, Scotch and Irish at Suntory Global Spirits, said: “Auchentoshan Sherry Cask Finish perfectly showcases the distillery’s unmistakably smooth and fruity profile, with the triple distillation process allowing the spirit to take on the incredible flavours from the casks. It’s a beautifully balanced and enjoyable dram.”
Kirsteen Beeston, Senior Global Marketing Director, Scotch and Irish at Suntory Global Spirits, added: “There is a demand for high-quality yet affordable expressions that can be enjoyed on any sociable occasion. Auchentoshan Sherry Cask Finish offers exactly that, with a rich and inviting experience for those new to whisky, and flavour complexity for more seasoned fans. This expression demonstrates that a single malt doesn’t have to be high age or high price to be enjoyable.”
Auchentoshan Sherry Cask Finish will start rolling out to specialist retailers across Europe and Asia from the end of April. RRP (TBC).
