The Speyside based Tamnavulin Distillery has announced the launch of a new limited-edition release to mark its 60th Anniversary.
Tamnavulin 25 Year Old Diamond Anniversary Release (51.8% ABV) is a cask-strength single malt Scotch whisky. It was initially matured for 20 years in American oak barrels, before being finished for a further five years in a Moscatel wine cask.
This latest release was distilled in 2000, when the stills were briefly refired during a 12 year period of closure. The spirit produced at the turn of the millennium is extremely limited, making it a fittingly celebratory release for the distillery’s 60th year.
The expression has been described by the brand as a celebration of its whiskies and the people who make them, each crafted with care by a dedicated, award-winning team who take quiet pride in a whisky enjoyed by drinkers around the world.
Tamnavulin, named after the Gaelic term for ‘Mill on the Hill,’ draws its identity from the 16th-century woollen mill that once graced its historic site. It stands as the embodiment of the quintessential Speyside malt. Established in 1966 in the tranquil village of Tomnavulin, Scotland, the distillery’s journey has been one of both tradition and revival.
Though the distillery closed its doors in 1995, it was brought back to life and meticulously restored in 2007. Since then, Tamnavulin has been dedicated to crafting exceptional single malt whisky that captures the true essence of Speyside; sweet, smooth and fruity.
Tamnavulin 25 Year Old Diamond Anniversary Release is said to deliver notes of orange studded with cloves, poached pear, creamy custard and a hint of balsamic on the nose, followed by dark chocolate-covered raisins, bright citrus, heather honey and sweet liquorice on the palate.
Limited to 290 bottles, Tamnavulin 25 Year Old Diamond Anniversary Release is now available from selected specialist retailers, for a RRP of £260.00.
