The Borders Distillery has announced the launch of the first release in a new limited-edition series celebrating Hawick Common Riding.

The Cornet’s Blend (40% ABV) is a blended Scotch whisky, created in collaboration with the Hawick Common Riding Committee and the town’s principal frontman, Jordan Nuttall.

Crafted as a tribute to one of the region’s most cherished traditions, The Cornet’s Blend is said to represent a unique fusion of local heritage and whisky-making expertise. The release features a bespoke blend personally selected by the serving Cornet, alongside a label design shaped by his creative direction, including colour palettes and imagery reflecting his personal story and the spirit of the festival.

The project aims to establish a highly anticipated annual tradition that resonates with both the Borders community and whisky enthusiasts alike. To mark the festival’s 512th year, just 512 bottles will be made available in the UK.

The 2026 Cornet personally selected the blend for this inaugural edition, ensuring it reflects his individual taste and character. Future releases will continue this legacy, offering a fresh interpretation each year while strengthening ties between the distillery, the festival and the wider Borders community.

The Cornet’s Blend is said to deliver notes of vanilla and green apple on the nose, followed by butterscotch and maple syrup on the palate.

Commenting on the launch, Kirsten Blackburn-Elsdon, Head of Marketing at The Borders Distillery, said: “This launch represents more than just a whisky. It is a tribute to Hawick’s Common Riding and the people who keep this centuries-old tradition alive. By placing the Cornet at the heart of the creation process, we are capturing an authentic and personal expression of Borders culture in every bottle.”

The Cornet’s Blend is now available from The Borders Distillery website for a RRP of £40.00.
