The Japan based Chichibu Distillery has announced the launch of a new collaborative cask-strength, limited-edition release with Selfridges.
Chichibu Distillery Single Malt Whisky x Selfridges (59.5% ABV) is a single-cask, single malt Japanese whisky, matured for seven years in a first-fill Bourbon barrel.
The new limited edition is said to showcase the distillery’s renowned craftsmanship and commitment to exceptional whisky-making, values that align closely with those of Selfridges, one of the world’s most iconic retailers.
Chichibu Distillery was founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2004 and began distilling in 2008. The Akuto family has a long history of alcohol production in Japan. The brand is known for its intimate approach to production, meticulous processes and highly sought-after releases, which have earned it cult status among whisky enthusiasts.
As with the inaugural 195-bottle limited-edition collaboration released in 2019, the label design is a defining feature. Created to echo the theatrical window displays of Selfridges, it draws inspiration from the retailer’s famous displays, long regarded as art-like installations central to its identity.
The whisky is said to offer notes of candied citrus, roasted orchard fruits, honeysuckle and a gentle hint of sweet cinnamon on the nose, followed by ripe peach, brown sugar and vanilla on the palate.
Chichibu Distillery Single Malt Whisky x Selfridges will be available from May 20th at Selfridges stores in London, Manchester and Birmingham, as well as online at selfridges.com, for a RRP of £265.00.
