The Speyside based Benromach Distillery has announced the launch of the latest release from its limited-edition Contrasts range.
Benromach Contrasts Côte Rôtie (46% ABV) is a 12 Year Old single malt Scotch whisky, which was initially matured in first-fill Bourbon casks before being finished for 26 months in Côte Rôtie wine casks.
The Contrasts range showcases whiskies that offer a distinctive twist on the delicately smoky profile of the brand’s signature collection. Previous releases have included Contrasts Kiln Dried Oak and Contrasts Unpeated.
Benromach Contrasts Côte Rôtie is said to deliver notes of warm spice, summer berries, sweet vanilla and chocolate on the nose, followed by notes of rich forest fruits, cracked black pepper, orange zest, ginger, charred oak and subtle smoke on the palate.
Commenting on the launch, Elizabeth Haw, Head of Spirit Quality and Supply at Benromach, said: “Our Speyside single malt is made by hand using traditional methods, relying on the sharpened senses and expertise of our distillers, who put their heart and soul into every drop. Matured in first-fill bourbon casks before an extended finishing period in Côte Rôtie wine casks, this expression delivers a rich, full-flavoured dram with notes of forest fruits, subtle spice and our signature touch of smoke. With a limited number of bottles available, it is the perfect dram for whisky enthusiasts seeking something a little different – and an ideal Father’s Day gift.”
Benromach Contrasts Côte Rôtie is now available from selected specialist retailers, for a RRP of £60.00.
