The Coors Spirits Co. has announced the launch of a limited-edition whiskey, the first release under the Coors Whiskey Co. name.

Coors Whiskey Co. Blended American Malt Whiskey (55.3% ABV) is an 8 Year Old expression, crafted using the company’s proprietary malt and Colorado malt.

Coors has built its reputation on a simple belief: exceptional beverages begin with exceptional ingredients. Long before it became one of America’s most iconic brewing companies, Coors invested in the craft of malting, developing expertise that today extends across one of North America’s largest malting operations.

For Coors Spirits Co., the creation of a malt-forward whiskey is a natural evolution of a legacy built on malt itself. Since 1878, Coors has refined the art and science of malting, helping to shape flavour profiles enjoyed by consumers across both beer and whiskey.

With Coors Whiskey Co. Blended American Malt Whiskey, the company brings that expertise centre stage, transforming one of its most important ingredients into the foundation of what it describes as a premium whiskey experience.

The whiskey is said to offer aromas of fresh plum, crunchy cookie, cinnamon raisin bread, cooked Granny Smith apple and dried fruit on the nose. These are followed on the palate by notes of pear, salted melon, stone fruit, lightly smoked dark chocolate-covered cherry, rich toffee, peat and spice.

Commenting on the launch, Susie McInerney, Senior Marketing Manager at Coors Spirits Co., said: “Most whiskey stories begin in the barrel. Ours begins with the grain. Malt has been part of the Coors story since the earliest days of the company, rooted in a long-standing malting tradition. This release represents a natural evolution for Coors Whiskey Co. and is proof that what goes into our whiskey – down to the grain – makes all the difference, creating something truly differentiated within the category.”

Limited in quantities, Coors Whiskey Co. Blended American Malt Whiskey is now available from selected retailers in Colorado and Illinois for a RRP of $79.99.
