The Bardstown, Kentucky based Barton 1792 Distillery has announced the launch of two new expressions.
1792 Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey (50% ABV) is the brand’s first-ever straight rye expression. It was produced using the brand’s signature bourbon yeast, which is said to have introduced a subtle fruit-forward sweetness that balances the rye’s intensity.
Launched as a new annual release, 1792 Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey delivers notes of warm baking spices and spiced fruit jellies on the nose, followed by notes of rye spice, cinnamon sweets and rich molasses on the palate.
1792 XV (62.1% ABV) is a 15 Year Old cask strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, matured in virgin charred American white oak barrels. It is the brand’s oldest release to date.
The annual expression builds on the profile of 1792 Aged Twelve Years, adding a further three years of maturation that is said to bring greater oak influence and concentrated sweetness. It delivers aromas of sweet cola, leather and vanilla extract on the nose, followed by notes of dark cherries and cocoa on the palate.
Established in 1879, Barton 1792 Distillery is the oldest continuously operating distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. Its portfolio comprises a range of distinctive, award-winning expressions, highlighted by recent recognition at the 2026 Denver International Spirits Competition, where 1792 Full Proof was named the highest-rated spirit overall, receiving the competition’s only Platinum Award.
Commenting on the launch, Tyler Smith, Brand Director of 1792, said: “Refining and reimagining our whiskey-making process has opened the door to new flavour possibilities. With these releases, we continue to grow the 1792 brand, building on our nearly 150-year legacy while expanding the portfolio in ways that excite both long-time fans and new whiskey enthusiasts.”
Ross Cornelissen, Master Distiller, added: “We felt the rye reached its peak at 100 proof. Here, the whiskey showcases a seamless integration of rye spice, oak and yeast influence. Many seasoned bourbon drinkers turn to rye when they’re ready to explore something new. With 1792 Bourbon’s high-rye mash bill, this release offers fans a familiar spice profile with a distinctive rye character.”
1792 Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey is now available from selected retailers across the US for a RRP of $39.99. 1792 XV is available from selected global travel retail outlets for a RRP of $249.99.
