The Sagamore Distillery has announced the nationwide US launch of its High Rye Straight Bourbon Whiskey, following the success of a limited release in Baltimore, Maryland, last year.

Sagamore High Rye Straight Bourbon Whiskey (54% ABV), matured for six years in new charred American white oak barrels, was produced using a mashbill of 60% corn, 25% rye and 15% malted rye.

The latest release is said to represent the brand’s ambition to expand beyond rye while remaining rooted in its core values. This distinctive bourbon-style whiskey has been crafted to pay homage to Kentucky’s bourbon heritage while celebrating and advancing Maryland-style whiskey traditions.

Founded in 2013, Sagamore Whiskey is rooted in one of America’s oldest rye whiskey traditions: Maryland style. Before Kentucky became renowned for bourbon, Maryland farmers turned to rye, which flourished in the region’s fertile soil and changing coastal climate. The locally grown grain became celebrated for its smoothness and balance, while playing a defining role in the early development of cocktail culture and American drinking history.

Today, with its state-of-the-art waterfront distillery, Sagamore Whiskey honours this tradition through its signature double mash bill and expert blending, reintroducing Maryland rye to a new generation.

Sagamore High Rye Straight Bourbon Whiskey opens with inviting aromas of dark brown sugar and grilled peaches, complemented by luscious mixed berries. On the palate, it delivers a rich, layered combination of spiced vanilla and hazelnut toffee, balanced by dried fruits and a hint of orange peel. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving lingering notes of caramel sweetness, toasted nuts and warming spices.
