The Islay-based Kilchoman Distillery has announced the launch of the first edition of its new Family Collection, with each release being hand-selected by the five members of Kilchoman’s founding family.

The Kilchoman Family Collection – First Edition, comprises four expressions, headlined by a 20 Year Old, the distillery’s oldest general release to date. The collection showcases the evolving influence of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks as Kilchoman reaches more significant age statements.

Kilchoman Family Collection 11 Year Old (54.7% ABV)
Peated (50ppm) single malt Scotch whisky, matured in an Oloroso Sherry cask.

Kilchoman Family Collection 14 Year Old (50.9% ABV)
Peated (20ppm) single malt Scotch whisky, matured in an ex-Bourbon cask.

Kilchoman Family Collection 18 Year Old (50% ABV)
Peated (50ppm) single malt Scotch whisky, matured in an ex-Bourbon cask.

Kilchoman Family Collection 20 Year Old (49.9% ABV)
Peated (50ppm) single malt Scotch whisky, matured in an ex-Bourbon cask.

The 14 Year Old was produced using barley grown at Kilchoman’s Rockside Farm. The 11, 18 and 20 Year Old expressions were produced using heavily peated barley sourced from Port Ellen Maltings, offering a contrasting style that reflects Kilchoman’s traditional peat profile.

Commenting on the launch, Kilchoman Founder Anthony Wills said: “The Kilchoman Family Collection, both this year and in the years to come, showcases some of our most treasured casks. We are especially proud to release our first globally available 20 Year Old as part of this edition. Discovering and tasting these exceptional casks in our warehouses remains one of the great joys of what we do. As a family, we have dedicated the past two decades to crafting the finest spirit and selecting the very best casks, so seeing that commitment and care come to fruition is incredibly rewarding.”

The Kilchoman Family Collection – First Edition 11, 14, 18 and 20 Year Old will be available later this month from selected specialist retailers, for the respective RRPs of £117, £127, £191 and £249.
