The Old Forester Distillery has announced the launch of the latest limited-edition release in its 117 Series, its first expression to be crafted entirely from whiskey distilled at the Old Forester Distillery on Louisville’s historic Main Street, Kentucky.

Old Forester The 117 Series – Triple Char (57.5% ABV) is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, matured in barrels charred three times longer than those used for traditional Old Forester expressions. The extended charring intensifies the interaction between the whiskey and the oak, producing a rich, layered Bourbon that is said to reflect both the craftsmanship behind the spirit and the significance of this milestone.

The release marks a new chapter for the distillery, which has welcomed Bourbon enthusiasts from around the world since opening in 2018, while continuing to operate as a working distillery dedicated to producing the next generation of Old Forester whiskey.

The Old Forester 117 Series is a collection of distinctive barrels, innovative production techniques and experimental releases, showcasing the craftsmanship and innovation behind every bottle. First launched in 2021, previous expressions have included 1910 Extra Extra Old, Whiskey Row Fire and High Angels’ Share.

Old Forester The 117 Series – Triple Char is said to offer aromas of pecan praline, crisp juicy apple, stone fruit, cardamom, honeysuckle and sweet leather on the nose. On the palate, it delivers notes of buttery baked apple cobbler, cinnamon, pepper and charred oak.
