House of Hazelwood has announced the launch of a new limited-edition release in its Legacy Collection.

House of Hazelwood Calm Waters 1992 (52.1% ABV) is a blended malt Scotch whisky distilled in 1992. Crafted from a marriage of Speyside single malts, it was matured in a combination of first-fill and refill Sherry butts.

The House of Hazelwood Legacy Collection celebrates rare and remarkable parcels from the Gordon family’s extensive inventory, with each whisky selected not only for its quality but also for the story it tells of time, place and craftsmanship.

Inspired by the River Spey, which winds through the heart of Scotland’s most celebrated whisky region, Calm Waters reflects a defining duality: apparent tranquillity paired with hidden power. Much like the river itself, the whisky is said to offer an experience that is both graceful and profoundly complex.

House of Hazelwood Calm Waters 1992 is said to showcase the influence of extended maturation in Sherry casks, where time has drawn out layers of richness, herbal complexity and textural depth. The whisky develops with precision and poise, revealing a character that is at once indulgent and quietly powerful.

The latest release is said to deliver rich, aromatic notes, opening with treacle toffee and liquorice, underpinned by a complex herbal framework. Subtle hints of fennel and linseed add freshness and lift, while the palate is described as full-bodied and richly textured, delivering impressive weight and intensity. A mouth-coating character emerges, balancing sweet, dark flavours with an evolving herbal depth.
