The family-run Jackton Distillery, located just outside Glasgow, has announced the launch of its first single malt, created under the leadership of Jaynie Kean, one of Scotland’s youngest female distillery founders and managing directors.

RAER Single Malt Scotch Whisky – The Inaugural Release (48.7% ABV) is a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky, matured in a combination of Bourbon, Pedro Ximénez, Amontillado and Oloroso casks.

The inaugural release marks a defining moment for the Kean family, who founded the distillery on their South Lanarkshire farm and laid down their first casks in February 2020.

Female-led, family-run and independent, Jackton Distillery has a growing visitor experience, offering tours, accommodation and a hands-on approach to whisky production.

RAER Single Malt Scotch Whisky – The Inaugural Release, is said to offer notes of fruitcake, fig and sultana on the nose, followed by flavours of dark fruits, treacle, roasted nuts, toffee, sweet spice and soft oak on the palate.

Commenting on the launch, Jaynie Kean, Managing Director of Jackton Distillery, said: “Our first Single Malt is a huge moment for us as a family, as a team and as a young distillery. We laid down our first casks in February 2020, and since then we’ve watched, waited, tasted, learned and kept moving towards the point where we could finally share a Single Malt with RAER’s name on the bottle.”
