The Kentucky-based James B. Beam Distilling Co. has announced the launch of a new limited-edition, cask-strength Knob Creek Bourbon release.

Knob Creek 12 Year Old Cask Strength (60.6% ABV) is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky, matured in American white oak barrels, hand-selected from just 10 distinct lots in Knob Creek’s Clermont, Kentucky, rickhouses.

The latest release is said to showcase the depth that 12 years of ageing and bottling at cask strength can deliver. It’s described as offering notes of caramel, char and dried apple on the nose, followed by notes of butterscotch, dried apple and seasoned oak on the palate.

Commenting on the launch, Freddie Noe, Eighth-Generation Master Distiller at the James B. Beam Distilling Co., said: “Knob Creek has always been about giving great bourbon the time it deserves. After 12 years in the rickhouse, this batch had the depth and full flavour we were looking for, and we knew we wanted to share it exactly as it was. Cask strength means the barrel gets the final say, and with this one, we were more than glad to listen.”

Limited in quantity, Knob Creek 12 Year Old Cask Strength, will be available later this month from selected retailers in the US, for a RRP of $89.99.
