The Glasgow Distillery has announced the launch of its inaugural Glasgow 1770 10 Year Old Peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky, marking a decade of peated whisky production at the distillery.

Limited to just 550 bottles, the Glasgow 1770 10 Year Old Peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky (54% ABV) is comprised of three ex-Bourbon casks: two refill barrels and one first-fill barrel.

This latest release marks ten years since peated single malt production began in 2016, following the launch of the distillery’s core single malt programme a year earlier. Peated whisky has since grown into a vital part of operations, now accounting for five months of production each year. This expression is the first release from those original 2016 runs to reach a full decade of maturation.

The distilling team specifically chose ex-Bourbon maturation to allow the character of the spirit to take centre stage, creating what the distillery describes as an “honest, spirit-forward profile”. The resulting whisky balances delicate bonfire smoke with honeyed sweetness, tropical fruit, and citrus, alongside a gentle waxy texture and lingering oak spice.

Commenting on the launch, Sebastian Bunford-Jones, Head of Sales & Marketing, said: “Reaching ten years with our peated single malt is a significant milestone for us. Peated production is now integral to what we do at The Glasgow Distillery, so for this release, we wanted to keep things simple and let the spirit speak for itself.”

“Ex-Bourbon cask maturation shows how our peated spirit has developed over a decade while retaining the character we’ve been building since those first runs in 2016. Expect notes of roasted pineapple, soft smoke, gentle vanilla, waxy lemon, and dried orange peel. With only 550 bottles available, it’s a small release, but a momentous one for the distillery.”

The Glasgow 1770 10 Year Old Peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky, is now available via the distillery website and selected retailers, for a RRP of £69.00.
