The High West Distillery has announced the launch of the latest release from its annual ‘A Midwinter Night’s Dram’ series, in celebration of the Utah-based brand’s 20th anniversary.
High West A Midwinter Night’s Dram – Act 14 (49.3% ABV) is a blend of straight rye whiskeys aged between four and ten years. The whiskeys were initially matured in a combination of American oak barrels and Amontillado, Oloroso and PX Sherry casks, before being finished in Ruby and Tawny Port casks.
The latest release, produced using a mash bill comprising 95% rye and 5% malted barley (MGP); 80% rye and 20% malted rye (High West Distillery); and 64% rye, 30% corn and 6% malted barley (BBC), is non-chill filtered and bottled without added flavouring or colouring. It is described as one of the most ambitious expressions of A Midwinter Night’s Dram to date, offering exceptional richness, complexity and depth.
High West A Midwinter Night’s Dram – Act 14, is said to open with notes of wild strawberry, blackberry preserves and fig, followed on the palate by blood orange, cherry fruit leather, cinnamon-dusted plum crumble and apricot scone, culminating in a finish reminiscent of a jam thumbprint cookie and spiced chai.
Limited in quantity, High West A Midwinter Night’s Dram – Act 14, is now available directly from the distillery and selected retailers across the US, for a RRP of $124.99.
