The Highlands-based Glengoyne Distillery has announced the launch of its latest limited-edition Teapot Dram release.

Glengoyne Teapot Dram Batch No. 12 (59.2% ABV) is a non-age-stated, single malt Scotch whisky, matured in a combination of European oak Oloroso butts, European oak Oloroso hogsheads and Sherry hogshead casks.

The Teapot Dram series pays tribute to a long-standing Glengoyne tradition. Until the 1970s, distillery workers were given three fingers of whisky three times a day. While most distilleries offered new-make spirit, Glengoyne set itself apart by providing fully matured whisky.

Some of the younger workers chose not to drink their full allocation during the working day, instead pouring their share into a copper teapot. Over time, the vessel filled with a blend of Sherry-matured whiskies, sitting in full view on the canteen windowsill for older, more seasoned colleagues to enjoy during what became known as the “dramming days”.

Glengoyne Teapot Dram Batch No. 12, is said to deliver notes of toasted marshmallow, cinnamon, toffee popcorn, demerara sugar, strawberry bonbons and a hint of spearmint on the nose, followed by notes of raspberry compote, blackcurrants, baked apples, Medjool dates and sticky Sherry notes on the palate.

Limited to 3,300 bottles, Glengoyne Teapot Dram Batch No. 12, is now available exclusively from the Glengoyne distillery shop and website, for a RRP of £125.00.
