The Islay-based Bowmore Distillery, has announced the launch of a special limited-edition gift pack for its 14 Year Old single malt, inspired by Kalamkari, a traditional Indian art form. The release is said to bring together the distillery’s heritage and Indian craftsmanship for the festive gifting season.

Bowmore 14 Year Old (43% ABV) debuted in 2024 as part of the Bowmore Appellations series, a travel retail-exclusive collection developed through innovative collaborations with some of the world’s finest wine-producing regions. The whisky was initially matured in ex-Bourbon casks before being finished in hand-selected Bordeaux barriques.

At the heart of the design is Kalamkari, a traditional Indian art form renowned for its intricate hand-drawn and block-printed designs. The name derives from kalam, meaning pen, and kari, meaning craftsmanship or work. For Bowmore, Islay’s oldest licensed distillery, this art form offers a natural point of connection with its own approach to whisky-making, with both traditions shaped by time and the human hand.

Designed with premium gifting in mind, the collectible packaging features intricate illustrations, layered textures and shimmering gold detailing across its 360-degree design.

Bowmore 14 Year Old, is said to offer aromas of Black Forest gateau, ripe cherries and salted caramel, with hints of pine nuts and sea salt. On the palate, notes of salt, spice, cherries, raspberries and strawberries are complemented by hints of bitter dark chocolate.
