The Speyside-based Benromach Distillery, has announced the launch of the oldest expression in its Signature Range.

Benromach 25 Year Old (46% ABV) is a single malt Scotch whisky, matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks.

The latest release is said to offer whisky enthusiasts rich berry aromas, complemented by toffee apple and Benromach’s signature soft smoke. On the palate, vibrant notes of raisin and orange give way to tropical fruit, followed by a finish of dried banana and mature oak.

Benromach 25 Year Old follows last month’s launch of Benromach 12 Year Old, which is matured exclusively in first-fill Sherry casks. The two expressions join Benromach 15 Year Old and Benromach 21 Year Old in the distillery’s Signature Range.

Located in the historic town of Forres, Benromach Distillery was founded in 1898 and acquired by family-owned Gordon & MacPhail in 1993. The distillery was carefully restored and reopened in 1998, with the aim of reviving a lost Speyside whisky style.

Commenting on the launch, Stuart Urquhart, Operations Director and fourth-generation family member, said: “We’re incredibly proud to launch Benromach 25 Years Old, the oldest expression in our Signature Range. This longer maturation has allowed us to create a rich, fruity and flavourful whisky, while keeping the signature hint of smoke that Benromach is known for. Made by hand, this release marks a new milestone for us, and it’s a privilege to share it.”

Benromach 25 Year Old, will be available later this month from the distillery’s website and specialist retailers, for a RRP of £250.00.
