The Highland-based Dalmore Distillery has announced the launch of a new limited-edition 12-year-old expression.

The Dalmore 102 Proof Aged 12 Years, has been bottled at 51% ABV, equivalent to 102 proof, which gives the whisky its name. It features a new cask composition that differs from the distillery’s standard 12-year-old expression, which is bottled at 40% ABV.

The latest release was initially matured for ten years in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels before being divided between Oloroso Sherry casks and bespoke casks created exclusively for The Dalmore by its long-standing partner, González Byass. These casks are a unique assemblage of classic and aged Oloroso, with sweet Pedro Ximénez blended to complement and enrich the house style.

The Dalmore 102 Proof Aged 12 Years is described as offering aromas of candied citrus, sun-dried raisins, treacle toffee and warming oak spice. The palate reveals notes of forest berries, Seville orange marmalade, fruit cake and dark chocolate, alongside a hint of sweet liquorice.

Limited in quantity, The Dalmore 102 Proof Aged 12 Years will be available exclusively via The Dalmore website from November 2nd, for a RRP of £90.00.
