Teacher’s, known for its blended Scotch whiskies, has announced the launch of its first range of single malts, all distilled and matured at the Highlands-based Ardmore Distillery.
Teacher’s 12 Year Old Single Malt (40% ABV) has been matured in ex-Bourbon casks and is said to showcase a classic Highland profile, with gentle smoke balanced by heather honey sweetness and oak.
Teacher’s 15 Year Old Single Malt (40% ABV), also matured in ex-Bourbon casks, is said to deliver added depth and complexity, with softer smoke and more pronounced vanilla and caramel notes.
Teacher’s 18 Year Old Single Malt (40% ABV) was initially matured in ex-Bourbon casks before being finished in Oloroso Sherry casks. It is said to offer rich complexity, with notes of plums, dates, toffee, ginger and aromatic smoke.
The new range invites whisky drinkers to experience Teacher’s in its purest form. Ardmore has long supplied the lightly peated malt at the heart of the blends. The distillery was built by the Teacher family in 1898 specifically to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality spirit.
Commenting on the launch, Dr Calum Fraser, Master Blender, Scotch and Irish at Suntory Global Spirits, said: “Teacher’s has always been defined by its unusually high proportion of malt, which gives our whiskies their rich, full-flavoured character. We have long experimented with varying malt levels and different cask types to mature the spirit, imparting depth and intensity. This single malt range allows drinkers to experience that character on its own, drawn directly from Ardmore, which has been at the heart of our blends for almost 130 years.”
Kirsteen Beeston, Senior Marketing Director, Scotch and Irish at Suntory Global Spirits, added: “This may seem an unexpected move from a well-established blended whisky maker, but, in the true spirit of its founder, Teacher’s has always done things its own way. We know whisky fans are looking to expand their repertoire from blends to malts, and Teacher’s now offers both. Whisky enthusiasts in India show particularly strong loyalty to the brand, and it is also extremely popular among travellers in global travel retail. What better way to reward these fans than to offer them the new range first?”
The new Teacher’s 12, 15 and 18 Year Old Single Malts will initially be available from specialist retailers across India and through global travel retail outlets in the Middle East from January 2027, followed by launches in Singapore, China, Sri Lanka and Australia, for the respective RRPs of £41.00, £58.00 and £78.00.
