The Vermont-based independent bottler Lost Lantern, has announced the launch of three new Bourbon releases, two of which are blends of whiskies from all 50 US states, and one created specifically to mark America’s 250th anniversary.

Lost Lantern United States of Bourbon (50% ABV) is a first-of-its-kind blend of straight Bourbon whiskies, aged between two and ten years, sourced from all 50 states. It is said to offer notes of vanilla, wood spice, nutmeg and clove on the nose, followed by chocolate, raspberry and orange zest on the palate.

Lost Lantern United States of Bourbon Cask Strength (61.5% ABV), which comprises the same blend and age range of whiskies as the 50% ABV release, is said to deliver notes of wood spice and vanilla on the nose, followed by oak, spice, black raspberry, dark chocolate and leather on the palate.

Lost Lantern United States of Bourbon 1776 Edition (60.7% ABV) is a cask-strength blend of straight Bourbon whiskies sourced from 13 states — the original states that came together to form a new nation in 1776. It is said to offer notes of spice, orange zest, dark chocolate and walnuts on the nose, followed by fruit, spice, freshly baked bread and leather on the palate.

At a time when Bourbon is being produced everywhere from Hawaii to Alaska and Vermont to Texas, the United States of Bourbon is said to capture a remarkable moment in American whiskey history. Bringing together one distillery from every state in a single blend, the project serves as a snapshot of the extraordinary growth, diversity and creativity that have transformed American Bourbon in recent years.

While Bourbon has historically been associated with a handful of states, the United States of Bourbon reflects the dramatic rise of craft distilling across the country over the past two decades. The blend includes Bourbons aged in coastal climates influenced by salty sea air, estate whiskey from family-run grain-to-glass distilleries, Bourbon from states with generations of moonshining traditions, and whiskey from some of the country’s newest distilleries.

The releases are the culmination of a vision that predates Lost Lantern itself. The United States of Bourbon has been in development for more than five years. During that time, Lost Lantern co-founders Nora Ganley-Roper and Adam Polonski travelled extensively across the country, visiting distilleries and evaluating whiskey in search of a Bourbon worthy of representing each state.

Commenting on the launch, Adam Polonski, Co-Founder and Head of Whiskey Sourcing at Lost Lantern, said: “The United States of Bourbon has truly been years in the making and has been part of the vision for Lost Lantern since before we launched the company. From the earliest stages of dreaming up Lost Lantern, we envisioned creating a 50-state blend to showcase the diversity and breadth of Bourbon. Shortly afterwards, in 2021, we began sourcing barrels specifically for this whiskey, a process that continued through to 2025. I have visited and vetted every distillery included in this blend in person.”

Lost Lantern United States of Bourbon (limited to 6,780 bottles), Lost Lantern United States of Bourbon Cask Strength (limited to 3,300 bottles) and Lost Lantern United States of Bourbon 1776 Edition (limited to 1,776 bottles) are now available from retailers in selected US states, for the respective RRPs of $79.99, $99.99 and $199.99.
